Mayflower Preparatory School, in collaboration with two other schools win Debate

Mayflower-Students-at-Christ-the-King-SchoolMayflower Prep. School, in collaboration with Firm Foundation and Grace Academy School has won a debate on the topic “Stigmatisation of AIDS patient kills faster than HIV/AIDS”. The debate which was organized by Youth Link Ghana “a non-governmental organization” took place at Christ the King School, Accra.

 

Eight zones comprising of three schools each took part in group picturethe debate. Balloting “for or against” the motion took place one week before the first rounds of debate at University of Ghana, Legon. Fortunately, Mayflower’s group was left out of the first round because a Zone in the Teshie Sector withdrew from the debate, thus qualifying the group to the semi-final stage.

Mayflower’s group debated with Teshie Zone comprising of King David’s School at the semi-final stage and they won with 258 marks to 154 marks thus qualifying the group to the finals.

At the finals, the group met the Adenta Zone comprising of Tot to teen School and Holy Child School and they won with 247 marks against 222 marks.

Master Sampson Joshua, a form two student stood for Mayflower Prep. School whilst Lydia Usandumuri and Jude Agyare stood in for Firm Foundation and Grace Academy respectively.

Winning the debate and recording the best grades(BECE)in the Tema metropolis is very impressive and must therefore keep it up in order not to loose that pride
